The Rundown: A series of Death Doors leads Wanda into a mystery with a link to Vision’s past.

A series of doors have popped up all over the world. Doors that seem to resemble the Final Door that Wanda uses to help those who come through it. Unfortunately, anyone who enters these doors does not return. Wanda has a small list of suspects that could be responsible, but an invasion by a biker gang will pause her investigation.

As she and Darcy fight to defend the people of the Lotkill, Vision arrives to help. As the two reunite to take down the threat, they are told that one of the biker’s managed to make it through. Back at his home, Vision realizes there is a connection between the doors and a battle with his former wife. A battle that will lead to a dark reunion and the consequences of a spell gone wrong.

The Story: Anytime I see Steve Orlando attached to a Scarlet Witch story, I am immediately in. Orlando has a depth of knowledge of the character that has yet to disappoint me when I read her stories and this is no exception. Orlando delivers a solid, engaging and emotionally complex story in this first issue. It sets the stage for the interpersonal drama stemming from Wanda and Vision’s relationship as well as the supernatural drama and thrills that I am looking for in a series like this. I am excited to see where this story goes next after that unexpected cliffhanger ending.

The Art: Lorenzo Tammetta delivers stunning art throughout the issue. I love the visual style and flair brought both the characters and their environments. A beautiful looking book from cover to cover.
